In the process I also have my first real nose around YouTube and found the following two classics!
(a) A film about dating, made by someone you might recognize:
( YouTube : Dating Film )
(b) Excellent funny short, think "people like us":
( YouTube : A short walk )
I'd not encountered AC before but looks like a pretty interest proposition - and anyone who writes about chanceXchange has to be good.
So my thanks to
Roys Boys, creators of The Acid Game and winners of AFF 2006, have offered to animate the logo
(b) successXchange
On returning home this evening I found my first successful changeXchange sitting on my doormat. Whilst the site has been quite popular in the US (300 confirmed trades to date), but it's taking longer to establish here in the UK. The arrival of 'a man apart, the vin diesel classic' may mark the start of something special in the UK, or simply mark an even lower point in Vin's career.
(c) ITV local
itv local is plannning to launch a London broadband channel in March, which will stream local news, weather, local documentaries and short films. The short film section will now include a collection from the Angel Film Festival 2006! This is great news for AFF film makers and hopefully good publicity for the festival as well. They aren't planning to pay, but distribution is distribution, right?
(d) Infection
If you are reading this because you want some feedback on infection, please note I'll respond directly to all comments & suggestions at the end of the current game.
(e) Coffee
For those of you reading 'the other' posts, tomorrow I intend to take coffee at the Almeida.
If you have a sec it would be great if you could post a version in your journal if only to get it out there and see if it gets taken up by people outside my group of friends!.. the idea being that if loads of people start using it i can put 'sponsored by snoglondon' on it somewhere, to help promote our dating websites... Quite understand if this is not your cup of tea - but hell we can't drink coffee all night.... hmm
( my valentine postbox )
In other news:
On Thursday night we had a CastingCallPro Question and Answer session with various speakers - which was well received if not financially successful. On Friday night Matt and i visited the funky bowling bar near Russell Square (very very nice) and on Saturday there was shopping, drinking, more shopping more drinking and then some dancing with loads of nice people. Sunday should have been a relaxing day but was instead spent zipping around London and then watching the new Hugh Grant film - quite passable.
If user A claims to have posted an item to user B, but after a few weeks user B claims not to have received the item, who should I trust? (Assuming a working postal system).
Should I say - unless you have receipt of postage we trust the receiver - it seems quiet harsh!
Is there a way I can motivate both parties to reveal their status correctly?
Current System
- A credit is taken from you when you request an item.
- This credit is paid to the poster when an item is marked as 'received'.
- Between being requested and being received the credit is held by a third party.
However this evening I encountered this work-safe short which is simply excellent - well worth watching if you have the time.
Afterwards a little research shows the is not the first short Neill has been involved in.
My folks appears to enjoy Catan (excellent) and once again we wrestled control of Xmas day cooking from my mother in an attempt to keep things calm - good stuff. I have now finally acquired a projector, so expect some home movie invites in the next few weeks and with any luck it might help give us a wider selection of venues for AFF 2007.
Xmas also saw the launch of chancexchange.com, nothing revolutionary but slightly less capitalist that previous endeavors.
New Year was spent South of the River at a most excellent roof top party arranged by the delightful
The New Year comes with no resolutions - life is pretty darn good already, but suggestions always welcome.
In other news, our office has finally been expanded - so should you be free towards the end of the second week in January please keep Friday 12th free for 'office warming II - this time it's personnel'.
AIDS, PORN!, your mum, a lump of coal
Can you feel the love?

The crontab launched the game, activated players teams and infections and all was looking very funky.
Then it decided that 2 seconds was more than ample game play and promptly terminated said game!
This was not what I anticipated happening - perhaps 2 seconds is adequate time for a computer to get bored with a game, but my attention span usually lasts 30 minutes at least!
When ending a game all the stats are saved into horrific backup files and the game resets.
Pull the backup is a total nightmare so instead I've randomly assigned people teams and reactivated the game...
Hopefully with the new team changing option everyone can quickly find their way back into their favourite team and things should smooth out...
crontab - I HATE YOU!
